Łącznik elastyczny wydechu jest niezwykle ważnym elementem układu wydechowego. Nierdzewna plecionka wydechowa niweluje drgania powstałe przy pracy silnika, skutecznie wydłużając żywotność wydechu. Często układ wydechowy pękał na spawach przez zbyt duże wibracje całego układu, zwłaszcza na łączeniu rur z tłumikami.

Zastosowanie łącznika elastycznego wydechu poprawia też komfort jazdy, gdyż wcześniej opisane wibracje nie są przenoszone na karoserie samochodu - im dłuższa plecionka wydechu, tym skuteczniej tłumi drgania. W motorsporcie najczęściej używane są jednak krótkie łączniki, mające długość 10cm.
