The Coolerworx Classic Regular Short Shifter is a chassis-mounted shifting system designed for selected Audi B3, B4, B5, B6 and B7 models. Its rigid construction provides a much more direct connection between the driver and gearbox than the factory shifter, while reducing shift throw by up to 40%.
By mounting the mechanism directly to the chassis, unwanted movement and play are significantly reduced compared with the OEM setup. Gear changes become faster, sharper and more precise, giving the car a distinctly more mechanical and performance-focused shifting feel.
The shifter is equipped with an adjustable gear lock-out system for Reverse, 1/2 and 5/6. Screw-type stops allow the mechanism to be set precisely, while a cable-operated pull-up collar releases the lock when required. This helps prevent accidental engagement of the wrong gear during track driving, motorsport and other demanding driving conditions.
Installation is designed to be straightforward and requires little to no cutting or modification of the interior. The shifter is compatible with the original Audi linkage and can be used with OEM engine and transmission mounts.
For high rigidity and long-term durability, the main components are manufactured from 7075 aircraft-grade aluminium, while the base plate is made from 304 stainless steel. These materials make the shifter suitable for both performance road cars and motorsport applications.
