The Coolerworx Carbon Pro Short Shifter is a performance-focused shifting system designed for a wide range of BMW models equipped with a manual gearbox. The chassis-mounted construction provides a much more direct and rigid connection to the transmission than the factory shifter, while reducing shift throw by up to 40%.
A built-in self-centering spring keeps the lever consistently aligned in the central position, even during hard braking, fast cornering and aggressive driving. This improves shift consistency and makes the mechanism easier to operate under demanding road or motorsport conditions.
The Carbon Pro version uses a longer shift lever, positioning the knob closer to the steering wheel for faster and more natural hand movement between steering and gear changes. Two lever lengths are available: 330 mm, offering a balanced setup for road and track use, and 370 mm, developed primarily for motorsport-oriented applications.
An adjustable gear lock-out system for Reverse, 1/2 and 5/6 helps prevent accidental gear selection. Screw-type stops allow precise adjustment, while a cable-operated pull-up collar provides smooth release of the lock-out mechanism.
The shifter is designed for direct installation with minimal or no modification required. It can be used in vehicles fitted with BMW manual gearboxes and is compatible with OEM linkage as well as original engine and transmission mounts. Dedicated direct-fit kits are also available for selected popular BMW chassis.
The main components are manufactured from 7075 aircraft-grade aluminium, while the base plate is made from 304 stainless steel. This combination provides the rigidity, durability and reliability required for performance and motorsport use.
Coolerworx shifters are developed in-house, CNC-machined and hand-assembled in Europe, with the design tested in demanding driving and racing conditions.
