The Coolerworx Classic Regular Short Shifter for BMW E3X / E46 / E60 / E8X / E9X is a chassis-mounted performance shifting system designed for drivers who want a more direct, mechanical and engaging gear change. The raw aluminium construction gives the mechanism a purposeful motorsport-inspired appearance while retaining practical compatibility with a wide range of BMW manual transmissions.
The shifter reduces gear throw by up to 40%, providing shorter and more precise gear changes with a sharper mechanical feel than the factory mechanism.
This version uses a 300 mm handle, placing the gear lever closer to the steering wheel and making it easier to reach during fast or dynamic driving. The longer lever position helps improve ergonomics without sacrificing the direct shifting characteristics of the mechanism.
The adjustable gear lock-out system for Reverse, 1/2 and 5/6 uses screw-type stops for precise setup. A cable-operated pull-up collar releases the lock-out when required, helping reduce the risk of accidentally selecting an incorrect gear during spirited road driving or track use.
The updated design also includes a new, easily accessible lubrication point. This simplifies routine maintenance and makes it easier to keep the mechanism operating smoothly over long-term use.
