The Coolerworx Top Mount Classic Pro Short Shifter for VW / Audi / Skoda / Seat with 02A or 02J gearbox is a motorsport-oriented shifting system designed for vehicles with retrofitted transmissions as well as race cars and stripped-interior builds. Unlike the bottom-mount version, this top-mount configuration requires the shifter cables to be rerouted inside the cabin.
The system is particularly useful for gearbox conversions, for example when installing an 02A transmission in a VW Golf I. It can also be used in vehicles originally equipped with compatible gearboxes where a top-mounted motorsport-style setup is preferred, especially in track cars or vehicles without a standard interior.
The mechanism reduces shift throw by up to 40%, providing shorter and more direct gear changes with a sharper mechanical feel. This improves shifting feedback and makes gear selection more precise during demanding driving.
